The Speech House wins the Forester Business Award for Tourism

The Tourism Award was contested by many businesses and the citation reads "Peter & Gill Hands have since purchasing the Speech House Hotel in 2010, developed the quality of service, links with the community, and the welcoming ambience for visitors and residents as well as promoting the Royal Forest of Dean whenever possible".

An afternoon and evening of entertainment to celebrate HM The Queen's Diamond Jubilee

The Royal Forest Jubilee is ‘The Event’ in the Forest of Dean to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and is promoted by Lydbrook Band. This is a family occasion so come and enjoy some wonderful music with many varied acts throughout the day along with attractions for all ages. 

There will be main stage performances from 2pm right through to 10pm and Lydbrook Band will perform a Last Night of the Proms with sound effects and a firework finale.  There will also be a fly past of local historic aeroplanes (weather permitting).

Feel free to bring your own picnic, set up your blanket or table and chairs, sit back, listen and enjoy the diverse talent we are so lucky to have in this part of the country. Alternatively you can hire a gazebo plot for the day and relax and enjoy the day in your own space.

Take part in the Forest of Dean half Marathon

The race course for 2012 is the same as the course in 2011, following forest trails, and some minor road sections.

The officially-measured half-marathon course (13 miles 192.5 yards) was created by the Forestry Commission, with special permission has been given to stage the race over this course.

Starting at the Speech House Hotel, the race course follows the trails in a clockwise direction through the Forest of Dean to return to the Speech House.
