Escape the Olympics at the Speech House Hotel

With just twelve months to go to the start of the 2012 Olympics, owners of The Speech House Hotel, Peter & Gill Hands are offering an “Escape the Olympics” Break, at their hotel, in the heart of the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

The Speech House Hotel was originally built in 1769 as a Hunting Lodge for Charles II, and still houses the Verderer's Court, one of only two in the country, which still meets regularly.

Peter & Gill are offering an “escape from the Olympics” for those people who don’t want to be bombarded with the hype and influx of crowds attending the events.
To ensure the perfect escape they are offering to :-
  • Remove TV’s and Radios from the guests bedroom
  • Remove all cuttings in the guests newspapers relating to the Olympics
  • Strategically place penalty cash boxes around the hotel, and impose a voluntary fine on talking about the Olympics, the proceeds of which would be donated to “Help for Heroes”
  • Provide any guests staying in the hotel with a book of local walks to allow them to explore the wonderful Royal Forest at their leisure.
  • To offer anyone booking a short break for the period of the Olympics 2012 the current 2011 hotel rates, providing they book their break within the next three months.

“There could be no finer way to escape the Olympics than to explore the wonderful surroundings of the Royal Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley, whether walking, cycling or just meandering around the lanes. Alternatively they could chill out and relax whilst enjoying one of the renown Speech House Cream Teas” said Peter.
